## Summary

ClipBot is a low-cost, do-it-yourself educational robot that allows students to experiment with principles from mechanics, electronics, and informatics. The robot's skeleton is made of two paper clips and it is actuated by an Arduino nano microcontroller that controls two servo motors. To overcome the hardware limitations of the robot's movement, artificial intelligence methods are proposed. During a study week called "fascinating informatics," organized by the Swiss Foundation Schweizer Jugend Forscht, high school students implemented a genetic algorithm to optimize the robot's movements until it learned to walk. This resulted in straight movement in the forward direction using less than 20 iterations and demonstrated the effectiveness of using AI techniques to improve its capabilities. Overall, ClipBot provides an engaging and hands-on learning experience for students at the high school level to explore robotics and AI concepts. By experimenting with this low-cost educational robot, students can gain practical knowledge in mechanics, electronics, informatics and artificial intelligence while developing problem-solving skills through optimizing its movements.
