LGBTQ Privacy Concerns on Social Media
Authors: Christine Geeng, Alexis Hiniker
Abstract: We conducted semi-structured interviews with members of the LGBTQ community about their privacy practices and concerns on social networking sites. Participants used different social media sites for different needs and adapted to not being completely out on each site. We would value the opportunity to discuss the unique privacy and security needs of this population with workshop participants and learn more about the privacy needs of other marginalized user groups from researchers who have worked in those communities.
