Decentralized finance (DeFi), powered by blockchain technology, has experienced significant growth in recent years, currently managing $70 billion in assets. This study aims to provide a comprehensive understanding of DeFi and its differences from traditional finance. It also explores the compliance requirements and legal regulations that govern DeFi. The study evaluates the financial services offered by the DeFi field, as well as the tools it utilizes such as the stock market and stablecoins. Additionally, it examines the economic effects, security measures, and privacy dimensions of DeFi. The analysis systematically compares centralized and decentralized finance across various aspects including legality, economics, security, privacy, and market manipulation. To distinguish between centralized and decentralized financial services, a structured methodology is presented.
