Abstract: In this article Brushless DC (BLDC) motor characteristics are analyzed by using Fuzzy Logic Controller (FLC) and compared with conventional Proportional Integral and Derivative (PID) controller. The BLDC motors are mostly used in Electric Vehicle (EV) and industrial drive applications. It needs strong control capabilities of speed and torque profiles to accelerate the vehicle. The major drawbacks of conventional PID controller are speed overshoots problem and it has longer settling time. The FLC has overcome the speed overshoots and settling time problems. The advantages of FLC than conventional PID controller includes easy to design, adaptable to the parameters variation, better error detection and correction over a wide range of speed operating conditions. This MATLAB R2019b/Simulink work is performed based on Field Oriented Control (FOC) technique of BLDC motor. The FLC performance evaluation is superior over the conventional PID controller and provides the better control performance of BLDC drive.
