Abstract: With the drastic depletion in the quantity of carbon fuels and with the boom manufacture in automobiles, maximizing the regeneration of energy and usage of renewable energy is turning into an main concern. This paper focus on effective means of controlling the regenerative braking system for electric vehicle driven by brushless DC motor. When a vehicle braking or decelerating, the controlled speed provide energy return to the battery. Two methods of regenerative braking control are proposed in this paper and their comparison is done. In the proposed methods sliding mode controller provide better results compared to Adaptive PID controller. The effectiveness of the controller is validated using MATLAB simulation.
