Modern hierarchical vision transformers have added several vision-specific components in the pursuit of supervised classification performance. While these components lead to effective accuracies and attractive FLOP counts, the added complexity actually makes these transformers slower than their vanilla ViT counterparts. In this paper, we argue that this additional bulk is unnecessary. By pretraining with a strong visual pretext task (MAE), we can strip out all the bells-and-whistles from a state-of-the-art multi-stage vision transformer without losing accuracy. In the process, we create Hiera, an extremely simple hierarchical vision transformer that is more accurate than previous models while being significantly faster both at inference and during training. We evaluate Hiera on a variety of tasks for image and video recognition. Our code and models are available at https://github.com/facebookresearch/hiera.

Xenophon’s Anabasis is not merely a military expedition narrative but also a unique source that encompasses numerous cultural and religious motifs of ancient Greece. Various rituals, such as oaths, purifications, and banquets, are present within the dramatic structure of the text; yet, it is the sacrificial rituals that hold the utmost prominence. Sacrifice, particularly the offering of sacrifice for divine consultation and approval (divination), played a vital role in religious, political, and cultural life of ancient Greece as well as in its military tradition. This study examines the divinatory sacrifices offered in the Anabasis to obtain the gods’ counsel and approval, situating them within the context of the Greek military and war tradition. Furthermore, it will bring to light not only their religious and strategic functions but also their place and significance within the dramatic structure of the text. To this end, the first part of the study will focus on the concepts of thysia and hiera within the broader sacrificial terminology of ancient Greece, and in this context, the place and significance of divinatory sacrifices in the military tradition will be discussed. In the second part, the divinatory sacrifices in the Anabasis will be analyzed in the context of public sacrifices, while in the third part, they will be examined in the context of private sacrifices. The entirety of the seven-book work is studied through the framework of the contexts in which divinatory sacrifices are offered, with particular attention to fundamental questions such as the purpose and timing of the sacrifice, by whom it was performed, and to which god or gods it was dedicated.

High-performance GPU kernels underpin modern deep learning and scientific computing. As workloads become increasingly diverse and GPU hardware evolves rapidly, developing efficient methods for automated GPU kernel generation and optimization has become increasingly important. Existing LLM-based methods typically optimize within a fixed implementation space, limiting either optimization flexibility or search efficiency. We propose \textsc{HIERA}, a hierarchical search-space planning framework for GPU kernel optimization. \textsc{HIERA} constructs contract-augmented task specifications, selects an appropriate implementation space across PyTorch operators, CUDA libraries, and custom CUDA kernels, and uses profiling feedback and expert knowledge to guide structured iterative refinement. Experiments on KernelBench across multiple various workload levels and base LLMs show that \textsc{HIERA} delivers stronger overall implementation validity, sample efficiency, and optimization performance than existing training-free methods, while remaining competitive with the training-based CUDA-L1 without additional model training. A case study on a specialized stencil operator from scientific computing further achieves a \(1.53\times\) speedup over cuDNN, demonstrating the potentiality of the general framework beyond standard machine-learning workloads.

Content discovery systems depend on relevance judgment for search quality evaluation, but human annotation faces inter-annotator disagreement and scaling costs. While Large Language Models show promise as automated assessors, current approaches rely on flat aggregation strategies: single-step prompting, voting ensembles, or uncoordinated multi-agent pipelines that aggregate independent outputs without integration. We propose HIERA, a hierarchical multi-agent relevance assessment framework with four specialized agents: a Relevance Judge, Query Analyzer, Item Analyzer, and Relation Analyzer. The Judge determines when specialist analysis is needed; the Relation Analyzer then coordinates query and item analyses with external knowledge to establish relevance relationships for final judgment. Ablation studies show that the same agents and external knowledge without hierarchical coordination degrade performance, confirming that the coordination structure itself accounts for the improvement. Evaluation across five datasets (EVS, MSRD, ESCI, WANDS, Home Depot) shows improvements over 11 baselines: 10.2\% on Home Depot, 4.8\% on ESCI, and up to 38\% on EVS ($p < 0.05$). Hierarchical coordination yields 12.7\% improvement over uncoordinated collaboration using identical agents.

Media promosi berbasis video dinilai efektif karena mampu menampilkan menu, fasilitas, dan keunggulan restoran secara visual melalui kombinasi musik, gambar, dan efek, sehingga lebih menarik serta dapat membangun kedekatan emosional dengan pelanggan. Penelitian ini dilakukan di Rupa Hiera Space, cabang ketiga dari jaringan restoran Rupa Space yang berdiri sejak Maret 2023 di Cisauk, Kabupaten Tangerang. Permasalahan utama yang dihadapi adalah minimnya promosi di media digital, terutama YouTube, serta terbatasnya konten informatif yang hanya berupa dokumentasi singkat di Instagram dan TikTok. Kondisi tersebut membuat informasi tentang restoran belum tersampaikan secara optimal kepada masyarakat. Tujuan penelitian ini adalah merancang video promosi yang menampilkan profil, menu, fasilitas, dan keunggulan Rupa Hiera Space untuk menarik minat konsumen. Metode yang digunakan meliputi observasi, wawancara, studi pustaka, serta penerapan Multimedia Development Life Cycle (MDLC). Perancangan media dengan Adobe Premiere Pro 2019 dan Adobe Photoshop CC 2019, serta Konsep Produksi Media yaitu Pre production, Production dan Post Production. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa video promosi yang dihasilkan efektif dalam meningkatkan daya tarik, memperluas jangkauan promosi, serta berpotensi memperkuat brand awareness restoran.
