Résumé : Magnetic Levitation (Maglev) systems are highly susceptible to external disturbances in real-life scenarios, necessitating a robust nonlinear controller capable of improving their dynamic response and effectively handling external disturbances. This study proposes a Maglev system controller called the double integral barrier-based adaptive sliding mode controller (DI-BASMC). The DI-BASMC combines the robustness of the double integral sliding mode control with the adaptability provided by barrier-based constraints in adaptive control to handle external disturbances and noise. The basic Maglev system is modeled using state space equations, and the controller is designed while stability is ensured based on the Lyapunov stability criterion. Simulations are conducted using the Matlab/Simulink environment to evaluate the performance of the controller, with its dynamic response and resilience against external noise and disturbances being analyzed. Two types of disturbances are considered to assess the robustness of the designed controllers: a sinusoidal disturbance with increasing magnitude and a fixed-magnitude hard square-type disturbance. The performance of the proposed controller is compared with that of a robust backstep-ping sliding mode controller (BSMC) to establish its superiority. The simulation results demonstrate the superior performance of the proposed controller, which showcases its ability to handle uncertainties without overestimating the adaptive gains.
